The Only Thing Worth Bragging About
I am not a bragging person, I don't think. At least I try not to brag about much. I am not sure I have anything particularly worthy of bragging about. I am not wise enough to brag about my wisdom or knowledge, nor am I especially strong enough to brag about my great might in any way. I certainly have no riches to flaunt before anyone.
When I read in Jeremiah 9, I am reminded of the only thing worth bragging about. God says, "if you're gonna brag about anything let it be because you know Me and the understanding to even know Me at any level." (vs 23-24)
I want to be so close to God and His heart that the only thing I know how to brag about is that I know God with an intimacy that is hard to deny. I want to know God's lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness and so intimately that I can't boast about anything else.
Abba,
Bring me so near to you that I can't stop talking about it. Allow me to be so near to your heart that I know your fondness for me, and may that fondness be the only thing I can delight myself in! May the sole understanding of my heart be a resounding, "My Abba is very fond me," so that I know my closeness to you is the be very best thing about me. I know you, and you know me. Let me know that you hear me. Let me know that you're near me, and let that be entirely enough.
